Hello, my name is Susana Márquez, Founder of Look & See – Corporate Integrity Lab.
My journey into the world of Personal Protection began many years ago, motivated by a sincere desire to protect others. I embarked on a path of specialization, seeking guidance from some of the world’s most respected institutions. These experiences exposed me to simulated attacks, shootings, and high-pressure scenarios that pushed me to develop my reactive skills.
During those intense training sessions, one command stayed with me: “Look and See.” It became a constant reminder to not settle for surface observations but instead to truly connect with the present moment and decipher the subtle cues it offered.
In a pivotal moment of my education, I had the privilege of attending the Academy of Protectors as well as the Threat Assessment Academy, where I was deeply impacted by the wisdom of renowned security expert Gavin de Becker. He taught me that being “present” is, in reality, being “pre-sent” — fully arriving in the moment before action is needed. When your body and consciousness are seamlessly aligned, you gain the ability to react with the utmost effectiveness.
I was fortunate to learn from experts like Gavin de Becker, Richard Kobetz, and Gene Ferrara amongst others, and I dedicated several years to the field of Personal Protection.
My journey took an unexpected turn when I was welcomed into the Nike team, introducing me to the dynamic world of Retail, particularly within Security and Loss prevention. While the context changed, my unwavering focus remained the same: placing people’s protection at the forefront of every plan and initiative.
Protecting thousands of employees is different from securing a VIP and their family, but every person’s well-being is of utmost importance to me. I remain committed to ensuring an appropriate level of protection for all. Fostering a culture of integrity at every level of an organization isn’t just a practical choice; it’s a fundamental commitment and a catalyst for positive change.
This commitment led me to create Look & See – Corporate Integrity Lab because I genuinely believe that safety and security are the foundation upon which thriving environments are built.
